Brief note on likely/apparent mutations in H1N1 with consequences of faster spreading, greater dying

(from a comment to a friend)

Someone asked about CRAIDO, in the context of what is the new transition in the pandemic in eastern Europe and a good part of Europe and possibly Canada already.

This is what many of us in the field were afraid of. And what may be worse, this may be something where a very slight change in the gen sequence leaves the virus similar to current H1N1, yes, but one that enables and supports the concurrent/simultaneous spread of other pulmonary and cardio-pulmonary systemic infections that bring about the cardiopulmonary failures causing death so rapidly and with higher percentages. If so, we are facing something that no single vaccine can handle and people need to know this as a serious possibility.

If CUBIT and CRAIDO and especially our Mutation tracking and the Virtual Sample repository Bank, all developed with cooperation, encouragement, and collaboration from the top people in the field, basically, could have been allowed to get “on the road” physically (for which modest $$$ was required), then a full lab unit could have been in Ukraine one or two weeks ago, supplementing, not competing with, but collaborating with WHO and others.

We could by now have better answers, more accurate fine-tuned sequence answers, and a better and faster “handle” on how to respond to what may very well spread worldwide during the easiest and most prolific time for pandemic spreading - from Nov. through Feb., with the multiple holiday seasonal activity.

Anyhow, I repeat, here below, my comment to my friend who asked about CRAIDO. It has more information on this, and WE ware working as hard as we can, as fast as we can, to develop scientifically sound answers and solutions, as part of an international team. But i have to say “Shame on You” to all those people who know about this months and even years ago and who had and do have plenty of money and who pooh-poohed it all because they thought this flu pandemic and public health risk was just “nothing” and that there would “not be enough profit” on their investments. That is the sorry and pitiful type of people we have produced in terms of our financial sector.

Maybe with the help of God and a lot of people like you, those people can finally be made to realize that this is not just a myth and that they have a responsibility to do things with their capital to help save their neighbors, and their own families.

CRAIDO is a highly compact, reconfigurable labstation, for stationary or mobile use, developed by our group (companies and in academics and national labs). It stands for Community rapid Response for Infectious Disease Outbreaks, and you can read about it at http://tetradyn.com and http://chips.tetradyn.net or contact the people listed there under Contacts.

We have tons of support and yea-saying from others in medicine and science, but stonewalling from the bureaucrats in govt. agencies and totally a dead ear from the financial and investment community.

We predicted (along with many other experts) the likelihood of H1N1 mutations that would be either more rapidly and easily contagious, or more lethal, or less so, or more so and Both faster-moving and more lethal, including variants that would make it easier for other pathogenic conditions to develop alongside the specific influenza virus.

The latter seems to be the case now engulfing Ukraine and spreading in most directions, including EU and it appears also Canada. Therefore it will in all likelihood be in the USA for the full-brunt of flu season.

This is simply the science, the medicine, the prognosis, cold and objective but not heartless.

What is (who are) heartless is, I will state it, are those private-sector investors and money people, both individual and institutional, who said NO to us in last winter and this spring and this summer, and who almost all said we were bluffing, there would be no serious pandemic, all was overblown, it was just a hype and a ruse, and Not Enough Profit for them in everything that you see at http://tetradyn.com including the CRAIDO labstations that have been openly desired by local and state health depts. and some hospitals and clinics in the USA and abroad.

So, I do declare, and would have no compunction about “naming names” of persons who I consider to be responsible for anything worse that comes our way, to our communities and families - except that there is medical work to be done, research and working as best as we can, and that is more important.

those that had the ample, more-than-ample liquid funds, the absence of risk, and who said “pooh-pooh, no way, no problem” - those persons have a moral responsibility for what may very well turn into being a pandemic equaling that of 1918 in intensity.

We were forewarned - not only by us and our group of scientists and doctors, but by others. we were ignored. Now we all face greater risks.

Sincerely,
Dr. Martin Dudziak and Team TETRADYN and the CUBIT Working Group

Upsurges in H1N1 deaths, disparity in USA proportion, and some interpretations

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

This is a very good - clear, simple, direct - article on the topic.

Notice the upsurge in the past few weeks and esp. the last week.

Notice also the large proportion of the deaths that are in the USA.

More than 5,700 swine flu deaths were reported by 25 October, compared to nearly 5,000 the week before. The biggest rise was in the Americas where 4,175 deaths have been reported, up 636 from the week before.

Now arguments can be offered, and they will, that the reporting in the USA is more thorough, accurate, etc.

Also, many places have simply stopped counting or in some cases not even done so in the first place.

All the same, the numbers indicate a big difference for the USA.

From WHO:
“In the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere, influenza transmission continues to intensify, marking an unusually early start to winter influenza season in some countries,” said the WHO’s latest update.

We would like to hear from people around the world, especially in different regions. Now one should expect much more activity in the northern Hemisphere than in the Southern, at this time of year, but all the same, it is worldwide because so many people move around so frequently to so many different countries.

But it would be great to get info on the numbers as seen by the people, not just the official agencies, and to get info on how individuals, families, and communities are coping and adjusting. I believe we will see significant differences. For some reason, many Americans seem to be in a “denial” mentality about this pandemic. I am quite surprised by this. There are a lot of people talking still about “government conspiracies” and the virus being contrived as a bioweapon by government “mad scientists.” Why do you think this mentality has such a strong grip and viral spread of its own in the USA?
Again, there could be many reasons. More press, more internet, more Hollywood, but I think it goes deeper than that. But enough for now, since for this guy (me) it is 0200 and it’s off to slumberland for me.
