The Really Dangerous Epidemic (Pandemic?) is Psychological
Wednesday, March 17th, 2010Again, I apologize for brevity. Too much to do, with the push on to get the lab set up here in Richmond.
So, please settle for some bullet points:
1. We have major collective psychological disturbance and unrest that is truly, meme-like, infecting many people. More and more depression, ennui, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behavior, and a huge among of greed, hate, and arrogance, all of which stem from fear, low self-esteem, lack of internal and integral security.
2. With the internet and in general easy communications among larger and large audiences, especially with the tools of video and audio to supplant text, there is more of the anger, rage, and “lashing out” that is spreading. We have witnessed this by exploring and experimenting with social networks such as FaceBook, but this is something that is probably obvious to anyone who takes the time to consider the problems.
3. Energy is being directed, within individuals, families, communities, and on a national scale, toward divisiveness, hostility, suspicion, mistrust, and what is virtually, or functionally, Paranoia. Especially when it comes to anything and anyone concerned or involved with government. Domestic terrorism and hate crimes are massively on the rise, not only in the USA, but especially here, and this is a disease that is literally killing us.
4. Those of us who are trying to keep a balance, individually and socially, must be working more and more together. We must find the time, make the self-sacrifices, and think more and more about how we can use our collective skills and energies to build sustainable projects, companies, non-profit and for-profit in nature, and we must do it as if our lives and futures depended upon it - because they Do.
I know that many people have different goals, objectives, projects, ambitions. We are all individuals. We all want to be happy. I ask your support and help for getting some little things going in the mid-sized, mid-Atlantic, and very “typical” community of Richmond, Virginia, starting with a tiny little lab that has an almost microscopic budget, so that a few very good things can be shown, demonstrated, and given to Society. Yes, there are commercial aspects that can be developed from this. But what is most important is to let a few scientists work together with some simple calmness and without having to worry about the very next day’s “bread.”
You can find many papers through http://tetradyn.com, including many, many more by others than myself (MJD), and you can get access to others that are not public because they are either not finished, not up to par or readiness (in the author’s opinion), or of a nature that they should have some more work done on them.
But as you can see from that website http://tetradyn.com and others (e.g., http://instinnovstudy.org) that can be found through it, this is not just about academic research and paper-producing. This is about real stuff, now, today, for real people, bona fide, validated, peer-reviewed, and simply, REAL.
So I ask your help. You may get very little money out it it, or maybe you will get a lot. I won’t get heaps more than you, that’s for sure. You will guaranteed not lose your honor, respect, or the admiration of others, but you will gain more.
Thank you,
